DISPLAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18422606 titled 'DISPLAY APPARATUS

The display apparatus described in the patent application consists of a substrate with three distinct areas: a first area, a second area, and a third area located between the first and second areas.

  • First light-emitting diodes are situated in the first area, while second light-emitting diodes are located in the second area.
  • Each area contains sub-pixel circuits that are electrically connected to the respective light-emitting diodes.
  • Additionally, third light-emitting diodes are present in the third area, with connection lines linking the sub-pixel electrodes of the third light-emitting diodes to those of the first light-emitting diodes.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Integration of different types of light-emitting diodes in distinct areas of the substrate.
  • Use of sub-pixel circuits to control the light emission of the diodes.
  • Connection lines for efficient electrical connectivity between the diodes.

Potential Applications:

  • High-resolution displays for electronic devices.
  • Enhanced color accuracy and brightness in display screens.
  • Improved energy efficiency in lighting systems.

Problems Solved:

  • Addressing the need for better display quality and energy efficiency in electronic devices.
  • Enhancing the performance of light-emitting diodes in display technology.

Benefits:

  • Crisp and vibrant display quality.
  • Energy-efficient operation.
  • Enhanced user experience with improved visual performance.

Commercial Applications:

  • This technology could be utilized in smartphones, tablets, televisions, and other electronic devices requiring high-quality display screens.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the integration of different light-emitting diodes in distinct areas improve display performance? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this technology in commercial products?

Original Abstract Submitted

A display apparatus includes: a substrate including a first area, a second area, and a third area between the first area and the second area; first light-emitting diodes in the first area; first sub-pixel circuits in the first area and respectively and electrically connected to the first light-emitting diodes; second light-emitting diodes in the second area; second sub-pixel circuits in the second area and respectively and electrically connected to the second light-emitting diodes; third light-emitting diodes in the third area; and a connection line electrically connecting a sub-pixel electrode of each of the third light-emitting diodes to a sub-pixel electrode of each of the first light-emitting diodes.
