BATTERY CELL, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MANUFACTURE SAME, BATTERY, AND POWER CONSUMING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18669179 titled 'BATTERY CELL, METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MANUFACTURE SAME, BATTERY, AND POWER CONSUMING DEVICE

The abstract describes a battery cell with a unique shell design that includes a wall portion with a main body, a connecting portion, and a reinforcing portion. The connecting portion surrounds the reinforcing portion, and the main body surrounds the connecting portion. The connecting portion has a weakened region that allows the battery cell to rupture when internal pressure reaches a threshold, releasing the pressure. The reinforcing portion is thicker than the main body to minimize deformation under pressure.

  • The battery cell shell has a specialized design to release internal pressure when necessary.
  • The connecting portion surrounds the reinforcing portion, which is thicker to prevent deformation.
  • A weakened region in the connecting portion allows the battery cell to rupture under pressure.
  • The design helps maintain the structural integrity of the battery cell.
  • This innovation aims to improve safety and performance in battery technology.

Potential Applications: - Electric vehicles - Portable electronic devices - Energy storage systems

Problems Solved: - Preventing overpressure in battery cells - Enhancing safety in battery technology

Benefits: - Improved safety features - Enhanced performance in battery cells - Reduced risk of deformation under pressure

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Safety Battery Cells for Electric Vehicles This technology could be utilized in electric vehicles to improve battery safety and performance, potentially increasing consumer confidence and market demand for electric vehicles.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the design of the shell in this battery cell improve safety and performance?

The shell design includes a reinforcing portion that is thicker than the main body, reducing deformation under pressure and allowing controlled release of internal pressure.

2. What potential impact could this innovation have on the electric vehicle industry?

This technology could lead to safer and more efficient battery systems in electric vehicles, potentially increasing their market appeal and adoption rates.

Original Abstract Submitted

A battery cell includes a shell and an electrode assembly accommodated in the shell. The shell includes a wall portion, the wall portion includes a main body, a connecting portion and a reinforcing portion, the connecting portion surrounds an outer side of the reinforcing portion, and the main body surrounds an outer side of the connecting portion. The connecting portion is provided with a weakened region, and the battery cell is configured to rupture along the weakened region when an internal pressure of the battery cell reaches a threshold, so as to release the internal pressure. The maximum thickness of the reinforcing portion is greater than the maximum thickness of the main body so as to reduce deformation of the reinforcing portion under the internal pressure.
