SPACE EVALUATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18271532 titled 'SPACE EVALUATION SYSTEM

The patent application describes a novel space evaluation system that quantitatively assesses how close an unknown space is to a natural environment.

  • Setting unit establishes naturalness as an index of proximity to a natural environment.
  • Estimating unit uses air quality data from a sample collected in the target space to estimate its naturalness based on the type and abundance of materials present.

Potential Applications: - Environmental monitoring in indoor spaces - Urban planning to create more naturalistic environments - Assessing the impact of human activities on natural spaces

Problems Solved: - Lack of a simple and quantitative method to evaluate the naturalness of a space - Difficulty in assessing the environmental quality of indoor areas

Benefits: - Allows for easy and objective assessment of how close a space is to a natural environment - Helps in designing healthier and more sustainable living and working spaces

Commercial Applications: Title: "Naturalness Evaluation System for Indoor Environments" This technology can be used in architecture, interior design, and environmental consulting industries to create more nature-inspired and healthier spaces. It can also be integrated into smart building systems for real-time environmental monitoring.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the system differentiate between various types of materials present in the air sample? - The system uses advanced algorithms to analyze the composition and abundance of materials to determine the naturalness of the space. 2. Can this system be applied to outdoor environments as well? - While the focus is on indoor spaces, the technology can potentially be adapted for outdoor environmental assessments as well.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a novel space evaluation system capable of simply and quantitatively evaluating how close an unknown space is to a natural environment. The space evaluation system comprises: a setting unit for setting naturalness as an index of how close a space is to a natural environment; and an estimating unit for estimating, from air quality data indicating a type of material including a microbe included in a sample collected from air in a target space to be evaluated and indicating an abundance of each material, the naturalness of the target space from which the sample has been collected.
