MEDIUM TRANSPORTATION DEVICE, RECORDING APPARATUS, POST-PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND RELAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18604583 titled 'MEDIUM TRANSPORTATION DEVICE, RECORDING APPARATUS, POST-PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND RELAY APPARATUS

The patent application describes a medium transportation device that transports a medium onto which liquid is discharged. The device includes a transportation roller pair with uneven rollers that nip and transport the medium.

  • The transportation roller pair consists of a first uneven roller with protrusions and recesses on its surface, and a second uneven roller facing the first roller with similar features.
  • The protrusion portion of one roller faces a recess portion of the other roller, creating a gripping effect on the medium being transported.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in printing presses to transport paper or other mediums for printing. - It can also be applied in manufacturing processes where precise transportation of materials is required.

Problems Solved: - Provides a reliable and efficient method for transporting mediums with liquid discharge. - Ensures a secure grip on the medium to prevent slipping during transportation.

Benefits: - Improved accuracy and precision in transporting mediums. - Reduced risk of damage to the medium during transportation.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized in the packaging industry for transporting packaging materials with liquid contents. - It can also be integrated into conveyor systems for efficient material handling in various industries.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the uneven surface of the rollers enhance the transportation process?

The uneven surface creates a gripping effect on the medium, ensuring secure transportation without slippage.

2. What are the potential cost savings associated with implementing this technology in industrial processes?

The technology can lead to cost savings by reducing material waste and improving overall efficiency.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a medium transportation device transporting a medium onto which liquid is discharged, the medium transportation device including a transportation roller pair that nips and transports the medium. The transportation roller pair includes a first uneven roller of which a surface coming into contact with the medium is provided with protrusions and recesses and a second uneven roller that is a roller disposed to face the first uneven roller and of which a surface coming into contact with the medium is provided with protrusions and recesses and a protrusion portion of one of the first uneven roller and the second uneven roller faces a recess portion of another of the first uneven roller and the second uneven roller.
