METHOD FOR ADJUSTING TIMER T WHEN DISASTER ROAMING OCCURS, AND DEVICE SUPPORTING SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18093601 titled 'METHOD FOR ADJUSTING TIMER T WHEN DISASTER ROAMING OCCURS, AND DEVICE SUPPORTING SAME
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes a method and device for adjusting a timer when disaster roaming occurs in a mobile network. Here are the key points:
- When a disaster condition affects a home public land mobile network (HPLMN), a user equipment (UE) registers with a disaster roaming PLMN.
- During registration with the disaster roaming PLMN, a timer that periodically searches for the HPLMN is disabled.
- The UE does not search for the HPLMN while the timer is disabled.
- The timer is reactivated when the disaster condition no longer applies to the HPLMN or when the UE leaves the disaster area.
Potential applications of this technology:
- Mobile network operators can use this method and device to efficiently manage network resources during disaster situations.
- Emergency response teams can benefit from uninterrupted communication services by using the disaster roaming PLMN.
- Users in disaster-stricken areas can stay connected to the mobile network without the need for constant searching for the HPLMN.
Problems solved by this technology:
- During disasters, the HPLMN may become unavailable or overloaded, making it difficult for users to connect to the network.
- Constantly searching for the HPLMN consumes battery and network resources, which can be inefficient during disaster situations.
- The method and device described in the patent application address these issues by temporarily disabling the timer and allowing registration with a disaster roaming PLMN.
Benefits of this technology:
- Improved network efficiency during disaster situations by reducing unnecessary searching for the HPLMN.
- Enhanced user experience by providing uninterrupted communication services through the disaster roaming PLMN.
- Reduced battery consumption and network resource usage by disabling the timer when not needed.
Original Abstract Submitted
Provided are a method for adjusting timer T when disaster roaming occurs, and a device supporting same. When a disaster condition is applied to a home public land mobile network (HPLMN), a user equipment (UE) performs registration with a disaster roaming PLMN. When the registration with the disaster roaming PLMN is performed, a timer for periodically searching for the HPLMN does not operate, and the HPLMN is not searched while the timer does not operate. In addition, the UE re-operates the timer on the basis of the disaster condition no longer being applied to the HPLMN or the UE leaving a disaster area.
