CREATING A DIGITAL DENTAL MODEL OF A PATIENT'S TEETH USING INTERPROXIMAL INFORMATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18601762 titled 'CREATING A DIGITAL DENTAL MODEL OF A PATIENT'S TEETH USING INTERPROXIMAL INFORMATION
- Simplified Explanation:**
The patent application describes a method for creating a digital tooth model of a patient's tooth using interproximal information. This information represents the space between adjacent physical teeth of the patient, allowing for the creation of more accurate digital tooth models.
- Key Features and Innovation:**
- Creation of digital tooth models based on interproximal information.
- More accurate depiction of physical teeth in digital models.
- Incorporation of adjacent physical teeth in the digital tooth models.
- Potential Applications:**
This technology could be used in the field of dentistry for creating precise digital tooth models for various purposes such as treatment planning, orthodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Problems Solved:**
- Inaccuracies in digital tooth models.
- Lack of representation of interproximal spaces in digital models.
- Difficulty in visualizing the relationship between adjacent teeth in digital models.
- Benefits:**
- Improved accuracy in digital tooth models.
- Enhanced treatment planning capabilities.
- Better visualization of interproximal spaces for dental procedures.
- Commercial Applications:**
The technology could be utilized by dental clinics, orthodontic practices, and dental laboratories to improve the accuracy and efficiency of their services. It could also be integrated into dental software systems for enhanced digital modeling capabilities.
- Questions about Digital Tooth Model Creation:**
1. How does the use of interproximal information improve the accuracy of digital tooth models? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for the field of dentistry?
Original Abstract Submitted
Creating a digital tooth model of a patient's tooth using interproximal information is provided. Interproximal information is received that represents a space between adjacent physical teeth of the patient. A digital teeth model of a set of physical teeth of the patient that includes the adjacent physical teeth is received. One or more digital tooth models is created that more accurately depicts one or more of the physical teeth than the corresponding digital teeth included in the digital teeth model based on the interproximal information.
