PROJECTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240310716 titled 'PROJECTOR

The projector described in the abstract includes a light source, a liquid crystal panel, a polarizer, and a solar cell.

  • The light source emits light, which is modulated by the liquid crystal panel based on an image signal.
  • The polarizer reflects a first light as a first polarization component to generate image light and transmits a second light as a different polarization component.
  • The solar cell is entered by the second light transmitted through the polarizer, generating electricity from it.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in projectors for various applications such as presentations, home entertainment, and educational purposes. - It can also be integrated into augmented reality and virtual reality systems for enhanced visual experiences.

Problems Solved: - The technology solves the problem of efficiently generating electricity from light transmitted through a polarizer in a projector system.

Benefits: - Improved energy efficiency in projectors. - Enhanced image quality and brightness. - Potential cost savings in projector operation.

Commercial Applications: Title: Energy-Efficient Projectors with Integrated Solar Cells This technology can be commercially applied in the manufacturing of energy-efficient projectors for both consumer and professional use. It can also be integrated into smart home systems and portable devices for on-the-go presentations.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the integration of a solar cell improve the efficiency of the projector system? - The solar cell allows for the generation of electricity from light that would otherwise be wasted, increasing overall energy efficiency.

2. What are the potential environmental benefits of using solar cells in projectors? - By utilizing solar cells, projectors can reduce their reliance on traditional power sources, leading to lower carbon emissions and a smaller environmental footprint.

Original Abstract Submitted

a projector of the present disclosure includes a light source outputting a light, one liquid crystal panel modulating the light output from the light source based on an image signal, a polarizer reflecting a first light as a first polarization component generating an image light of the light output from the liquid crystal panel, and transmitting a second light as a second polarization component different from the first polarization component of the light output from the liquid crystal panel, and a first solar cell entered by the second light as the second polarization component transmitted through the polarizer, wherein the first solar cell generates electricity from the second light as the second polarization component entering from the polarizer.
