ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240310948 titled 'ELECTRONIC DEVICE

The abstract describes an electronic device with a display layer and a sensor layer. The sensor layer consists of multiple first electrode groups arranged in one direction, multiple second electrode groups arranged in a perpendicular direction, and trace lines connecting the electrode groups and overlapping the display area. Each first electrode group has two electrodes spaced apart in the second direction, while each second electrode group has two electrodes spaced apart in the first direction.

  • The electronic device includes a display layer and a sensor layer with multiple electrode groups and trace lines.
  • The first electrode groups are arranged in one direction, while the second electrode groups are arranged perpendicular to the first direction.
  • Each electrode group consists of two electrodes spaced apart from each other in their respective directions.
  • The trace lines connect the electrode groups and partially overlap the display area.
  • This design allows for precise touch sensing and interaction with the display.

Potential Applications: - Touchscreen devices - Interactive displays - Gesture recognition systems

Problems Solved: - Improved touch sensitivity - Enhanced user experience - Accurate input recognition

Benefits: - Increased functionality - Better user interface - Enhanced usability

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Touchscreen Technology for Enhanced User Experience This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, interactive kiosks, and other touch-enabled devices to provide a more responsive and accurate touch experience for users. The market implications include increased consumer satisfaction and potentially higher sales for devices equipped with this technology.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve touch sensitivity compared to traditional touchscreen designs? 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this advanced touchscreen technology in consumer devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

an electronic device includes a display layer and a sensor layer. the sensor layer includes a plurality of first electrode groups arranged in a first direction, a plurality of second electrode groups arranged in a second direction crossing the first direction, and a plurality of trace lines electrically connected to the plurality of first electrode groups and the plurality of second electrode groups and at least partially overlapping the display area. each of the plurality of first electrode groups includes a 1-1st electrode and a 1-2nd electrode spaced apart from each other in the second direction, and each of the plurality of second electrode groups includes a 2-1st electrode and a 2-2nd electrode spaced from each other in the first direction.
