FRONT SUBFRAME STRUCTURE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240300580 titled 'FRONT SUBFRAME STRUCTURE

The abstract of the patent application describes a front subframe structure for a vehicle, consisting of longitudinal members, a cross member, and load receiving portions on the vehicle body floor.

  • The front subframe structure includes right and left longitudinal members that run along the length of the vehicle.
  • A cross member connects the right and left longitudinal members in the width direction of the vehicle.
  • Load receiving portions are located on the vehicle body floor at a distance in the width direction.
  • The rear ends of the longitudinal members overlap with the load receiving portions, with the rear ends having a larger width dimension than the base of the longitudinal members.

Potential Applications: - Automotive industry for vehicle chassis construction - Manufacturing of heavy-duty vehicles for improved structural integrity

Problems Solved: - Enhanced load distribution and structural stability in the front subframe of a vehicle

Benefits: - Increased safety and durability of the vehicle - Improved handling and performance due to better weight distribution

Commercial Applications: Title: "Innovative Front Subframe Structure for Enhanced Vehicle Performance" This technology can be utilized in the production of various vehicles, from passenger cars to commercial trucks, to enhance their structural integrity and overall performance in terms of handling and safety.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the front subframe structure impact the overall safety of the vehicle? - The front subframe structure plays a crucial role in distributing loads and enhancing the structural stability of the vehicle, thereby improving safety. 2. What are the potential cost implications of implementing this innovative front subframe structure in vehicle manufacturing? - While the initial cost of implementing this technology may be higher, the long-term benefits in terms of improved performance and durability can outweigh the initial investment.

Original Abstract Submitted

a front subframe structure includes: a pair of right and left longitudinal members extending substantially in a longitudinal direction of a vehicle; a cross member extending in a width direction of the vehicle between the pair of right and left longitudinal members; and a pair of right and left load receiving portions arranged on a vehicle body floor at a distance in the width direction. a rear end of each of the pair of longitudinal members is arranged to overlap in the longitudinal direction with each of the pair of load receiving portions, and the rear end of each of the pair of longitudinal members has a dimension (w) in the width direction which is made larger than a dimension (w) in the width direction of a base of each of the pair of longitudinal members (w>w).
