IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240302771 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes components such as an image bearing member, a transfer member, an acquiring portion, an applying portion, and a controller.

  • The controller adjusts the transfer voltage applied to the transfer member by the applying portion to be substantially constant under constant-voltage control.
  • When the toner amount used for a toner image is different, the controller controls the applying portion to vary the transfer voltage accordingly.
  • The acquiring portion gathers toner amount information for each toner image transferred onto a single recording material.
    • Key Features and Innovation:**
  • Constant-voltage control of transfer voltage for consistent image quality.
  • Dynamic adjustment of transfer voltage based on toner amount for optimal transfer.
  • Accurate acquisition of toner amount information for each transferred image.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be applied in various printing and copying devices to improve image quality and consistency.

    • Problems Solved:**

This technology addresses issues related to inconsistent transfer of toner images due to varying toner amounts.

    • Benefits:**
  • Enhanced image quality and consistency.
  • Improved transfer efficiency.
  • Reduction in toner waste.
    • Commercial Applications:**

This technology can be utilized in the development of advanced printing and copying machines for commercial use, ensuring high-quality output.

    • Questions about Image Forming Apparatus:**

1. How does the controller adjust the transfer voltage based on toner amount? 2. What are the potential benefits of using this technology in commercial printing operations?

Stay updated on advancements in image forming technology and related innovations to enhance printing efficiency and quality.

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member, a transfer member, an acquiring portion, an applying portion, and a controller. when a transfer voltage is subjected to constant-voltage control so that the transfer voltage applied to the transfer member by the applying portion is substantially constant, in a case that the transfer voltage, when a toner amount used for a toner image is a first toner amount, is a first voltage, the controller controls the applying portion so that the transfer voltage is a second voltage smaller lower in absolute value than the first voltage in a case that the toner amount is a second toner amount larger greater than the first toner amount. the acquiring portion acquires toner amount information on the toner amount for each toner image transferred onto a single recording material.
