ROLLABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17903259 titled 'ROLLABLE ELECTRONIC DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an electronic device with a flexible display and a sliding frame that can be extended or retracted. The device also includes a bending member with multiple bars arranged at a certain interval.

  • The electronic device has a housing and a sliding frame that can be drawn out or retracted.
  • The flexible display of the device has a visible first region and a second region that can vary in size.
  • A bending member is placed on the rear surface of the flexible display and consists of multiple bars arranged at a certain interval.
  • The bending member includes a first bar with at least one locking part that protrudes inward.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Mobile phones with flexible displays that can be extended or retracted for different usage scenarios.
  • Tablets or laptops with sliding frames that allow for adjustable screen sizes.
  • Wearable devices with flexible displays that can be adjusted to fit different wrist sizes.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a solution for devices with limited screen space by allowing the display to be extended or retracted.
  • Offers flexibility in adjusting the size of the display based on user preferences or specific use cases.
  • Enables the use of flexible displays in various electronic devices without compromising on functionality.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Enhanced user experience with the ability to adjust the display size as needed.
  • Increased versatility in using electronic devices with flexible displays.
  • Improved portability and compactness by retracting the display when not in use.
