TECHNIQUES FOR INDICATING DOWNLINK POWER ADJUSTMENTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17493540 titled 'TECHNIQUES FOR INDICATING DOWNLINK POWER ADJUSTMENTS
Simplified Explanation
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in this patent application. The innovation focuses on reducing interference between downlink and uplink messages in a wireless communication system. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:
- A base station determines that a scheduled downlink message will cause a certain level of interference with a concurrently scheduled uplink message.
- In response, the base station reduces the transmission power of the scheduled downlink message relative to its expected transmission power.
- The base station then transmits the scheduled downlink message to a user equipment (UE) using the reduced transmission power.
- Additionally, the base station sends an indication of a power adjustment for a downlink measurement of the scheduled downlink message to the UE.
- The UE receives the indication after receiving the scheduled downlink message and adjusts the downlink measurement accordingly.
Potential Applications
This technology has potential applications in various wireless communication systems, including:
- Cellular networks: It can be implemented in base stations and user equipment to improve the overall performance and efficiency of cellular networks.
- Internet of Things (IoT): The innovation can be beneficial in IoT devices that rely on wireless communication, ensuring better interference management and reliable data transmission.
Problems Solved
The technology addresses the following problems in wireless communication systems:
- Interference management: By reducing the transmission power of downlink messages causing interference with uplink messages, the innovation helps mitigate interference-related issues.
- Performance optimization: The power adjustment indication allows the UE to adjust its downlink measurement, leading to improved performance and accuracy in data transmission.
Benefits
The technology offers several benefits to wireless communication systems:
- Reduced interference: By dynamically adjusting the transmission power, the innovation minimizes interference between downlink and uplink messages, resulting in improved overall system performance.
- Enhanced reliability: The power adjustment indication enables the UE to accurately measure the downlink message, ensuring reliable data transmission.
- Efficient resource utilization: By optimizing the power levels of scheduled messages, the technology helps maximize the efficient use of available wireless resources.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A base station may reduce a transmission power of a scheduled downlink message relative to an expected transmission power of the scheduled downlink message in response to determining that the scheduled downlink message will cause at least a threshold level of interference with a concurrently scheduled uplink message. The base station may transmit the scheduled downlink message to a user equipment (UE) using the reduced transmission power and may transmit, to the UE an indication of a power adjustment for a downlink measurement of the scheduled downlink message. The UE may receive the indication after receiving the scheduled downlink message and may adjust the downlink measurement in accordance with the indication of the power adjustment.
