USE OF BIOMETRIC SIGNALS TO PERSONALIZE AUDIO - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240256600 titled 'USE OF BIOMETRIC SIGNALS TO PERSONALIZE AUDIO

The abstract describes an audio system that customizes the presentation of audio content to a user based on their biometric data, such as voice characteristics, heart rate, blood pressure, or other physiological data. The system determines a communication energy score for the user from this biometric data and retrieves audio parameters for the location. It then updates audio functions based on these parameters and modifies the audio presented to the user accordingly. The system can be integrated into a headset or other wearable device.

  • The audio system customizes audio content based on the user's biometric data.
  • It determines a communication energy score for the user and retrieves audio parameters for the location.
  • The system updates audio functions based on the communication energy score and modifies the audio presented to the user.
  • The technology can be integrated into a headset or wearable device.
  • Biometric data such as voice characteristics, heart rate, and blood pressure are used to personalize the audio experience.

Potential Applications: - Personalized audio experiences in headphones or wearable devices - Healthcare applications for monitoring and managing stress levels - Enhanced communication systems for individuals with specific audio needs

Problems Solved: - Lack of personalized audio experiences based on user biometric data - Difficulty in adapting audio functions to individual user needs - Limited integration of biometric data in audio systems

Benefits: - Improved user experience with customized audio content - Enhanced communication based on user's physiological state - Potential for better stress management through audio feedback

Commercial Applications: Title: Personalized Biometric Audio System for Enhanced User Experience This technology can be utilized in: - Consumer electronics industry for advanced audio products - Healthcare sector for stress management and monitoring applications - Communication systems for tailored audio experiences

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the audio system determine the communication energy score for the user? 2. What are the potential privacy concerns related to using biometric data for audio customization?

Original Abstract Submitted

an audio system customizes presentation of audio content to a user based on biometric data of the user. biometric data includes characteristics of the user's voice, the user's heart rate, the user's blood pressure, or other physiological data. from the biometric data of the user, the audio system determines a communication energy score for the user and retrieves one or more audio parameters for the location. the audio system updates one or more audio functions (e.g., noise suppression, beamforming, what audio is retrieved, etc.) based on the audio parameters determined for the communication energy score from the user's biometric data and modifies audio presented to the user based on the updated audio functions. the audio system may be integrated into a headset or another wearable device.
