NON-VOLATILE MEMORY AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18625956 titled 'NON-VOLATILE MEMORY AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

The abstract of the patent application describes a method of operating a non-volatile memory that includes an unselected word line. A first voltage is applied to the unselected word line by a voltage generator, rising at a first slope. The voltage generator stops outputting the first voltage when it reaches a predetermined voltage higher than a pass voltage, at which point the pass voltage is outputted to the unselected word line.

  • The method involves applying a first voltage to an unselected word line in a non-volatile memory.
  • The first voltage rises at a first slope until it reaches a predetermined voltage.
  • The voltage generator stops outputting the first voltage when the predetermined voltage is reached.
  • A pass voltage is then outputted to the unselected word line.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various types of non-volatile memories, such as flash memory and EEPROM. - It can improve the efficiency and reliability of data storage in electronic devices.

Problems Solved: - Ensures proper operation of non-volatile memories by controlling voltages on unselected word lines. - Prevents over-voltage conditions that could lead to data corruption or device failure.

Benefits: - Enhanced performance and longevity of non-volatile memory devices. - Improved data integrity and reliability in electronic systems.

Commercial Applications: Title: Voltage Control Method for Non-Volatile Memories This technology can be applied in the manufacturing of consumer electronics, industrial control systems, and automotive electronics. It has the potential to optimize memory performance and enhance the overall user experience.

Questions about Voltage Control Method for Non-Volatile Memories: 1. How does the method of applying voltages to unselected word lines improve memory performance? 2. What are the specific advantages of using a pass voltage in non-volatile memory operations?

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of operating a non-volatile memory including an unselected word line is provided. A first voltage rising at a first slope is applied by a voltage generator to the unselected word line. Outputting the first voltage is stopped by the voltage generator in response to that the first voltage rises to a predetermined voltage, wherein the predetermined voltage is higher than a pass voltage. The pass voltage is outputted by the voltage generator to the unselected word line.
