ON-SITE EARTHQUAKE EARLY WARNING SYSTEM AND METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18156582 titled 'ON-SITE EARTHQUAKE EARLY WARNING SYSTEM AND METHOD
The abstract of the patent application describes an on-site earthquake early warning method that involves receiving signals generated in response to vibration events, determining the existence of an earthquake event, predicting real-time seismic shear wave characteristics, and sending the prediction when an earthquake event is detected.
- Simplified Explanation:
- Method for on-site earthquake early warning - Receives signals from vibration events - Determines earthquake event existence - Predicts real-time seismic shear wave characteristics - Sends prediction when earthquake event is detected
Key Features and Innovation: - Utilizes signals from vibration events for early earthquake warning - Predicts real-time seismic shear wave characteristics - Provides on-site detection and warning capabilities
Potential Applications: - Earthquake early warning systems - Disaster preparedness and response - Structural health monitoring in earthquake-prone areas
Problems Solved: - Lack of real-time earthquake warning systems - Limited on-site detection capabilities - Inadequate preparation for seismic events
Benefits: - Improved safety in earthquake-prone regions - Early warning for evacuation and emergency response - Enhanced structural monitoring for buildings and infrastructure
Commercial Applications: - Earthquake monitoring and warning services - Structural health monitoring for buildings and infrastructure - Emergency response and disaster management solutions
Questions about Earthquake Early Warning Technology: 1. How does this method improve upon existing earthquake early warning systems? - This method provides on-site detection capabilities and real-time seismic shear wave predictions, enhancing the speed and accuracy of earthquake warnings.
2. What are the potential implications of this technology for disaster preparedness and response efforts? - This technology can significantly improve emergency response times and help mitigate the impact of seismic events on communities and infrastructure.
Original Abstract Submitted
An on-site earthquake early warning method is disclosed. The method includes the following steps: receiving a first signal generated in response to a first vibration event and a second signal generated in response to a second vibration event; determining whether an earthquake event exists according to the first and the second signals; predicting a real-time seismic shear wave prediction characteristic value according to the first signal; and sending the real-time seismic shear wave prediction characteristic value when it is determined that the earthquake event exists.
