HANDLING EXPLICIT INVOCATION OF CHATBOTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18626613 titled 'HANDLING EXPLICIT INVOCATION OF CHATBOTS

The present disclosure pertains to chatbot systems, specifically focusing on techniques for recognizing an explicit invocation of a chatbot and determining an input for the chatbot being invoked. In certain embodiments, this involves detecting an invocation name in a user's statement, which serves as an identifier for a specific chatbot. Upon identifying the invocation name, the statement is refined to extract relevant information for the chatbot, generating a new statement for processing by the chatbot.

  • Detection of an explicit invocation of a chatbot in a user's statement.
  • Refinement of the statement to extract relevant information for the chatbot being invoked.
  • Generation of a new statement for processing by the chatbot.
  • Removal of irrelevant portions of the statement associated with the invocation name.
  • Enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of chatbot interactions.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to chatbot systems, and more particularly, to techniques for identifying an explicit invocation of a chatbot and determining an input for the chatbot being invoked. In certain embodiments, explicit invocation analysis involves detecting an invocation name in an utterance. The invocation name is an identifier assigned to a particular chatbot. In response to detection of the invocation name, the utterance is refined for input to the particular chatbot by determining which parts of the utterance, if any, contain relevant information for the particular chatbot and generating a new utterance, using the relevant parts of the utterance, for processing by the particular chatbot. The refining can involve removal of a portion of the utterance associated with the invocation name.
