VIBRATION WAVE DRIVING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17858644 titled 'VIBRATION WAVE DRIVING APPARATUS AND IMAGE PICKUP APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a vibration wave driving apparatus that includes a vibration actuator and a driven member. The vibration actuator consists of a vibrator with an electric-mechanical energy conversion element and an elastic member, a pressurizing member to apply pressure to the vibrator, a contacting member that pressurizes and moves relative to the vibrator, and an outputting member that generates a driving force to the driven member through the relative movement of the contacting member.

  • The vibration actuator includes a vibrator with an electric-mechanical energy conversion element and an elastic member.
  • A pressurizing member is used to apply pressure to the vibrator.
  • A contacting member pressurizes the vibrator and moves relative to it.
  • An outputting member generates a driving force to the driven member through the relative movement of the contacting member.
  • The driven member includes an output transmission member that holds the outputting member with a predetermined spring force.

Potential applications of this technology:

  • Haptic feedback devices in virtual reality or gaming systems.
  • Vibration motors in mobile devices for notifications and alerts.
  • Vibration-based actuators in robotics for tactile sensing or movement.

Problems solved by this technology:

  • Provides a simplified and efficient vibration wave driving apparatus.
  • Allows for precise control and generation of vibration forces.
  • Enables the transmission of vibration forces to a driven member with a predetermined spring force.

Benefits of this technology:

  • Improved user experience through enhanced haptic feedback.
  • Increased accuracy and precision in vibration-based applications.
  • Cost-effective and reliable vibration wave driving apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a vibration wave driving apparatus comprising: a vibration actuator; and a driven member configured to be driven by the vibration actuator, wherein the vibration actuator includes: a vibrator having an electric-mechanical energy conversion element and an elastic member to which the electric-mechanical energy conversion element is fixed; a pressurizing member configured to pressurize the vibrator; a contacting member configured to pressurizing-contact with the vibrator by pressurizing the vibrator by the pressurizing member and move relative to the vibrator; an outputting member configured to output a driving force to the driven member, the driving force generated by the relative-moving of the contacting member to the vibrator, and wherein the driven member includes an output transmission member configured to hold the outputting member in a direction of the relative-moving with a predetermined spring force.
