GROUP BASED BEAM REPORTING - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18248736 titled 'GROUP BASED BEAM REPORTING
Simplified Explanation
The abstract describes a method in a communication system where a user equipment (UE) receives messages from a base station (BS) and performs measurements on downlink reference signals (DL RS). If the difference between DL RS measurements exceeds a certain threshold, the UE switches to a fallback beam reporting mode.
- The method involves receiving messages from a base station with specific information.
- The messages include a constraint threshold and a fallback beam reporting mode.
- The UE performs measurements on downlink reference signals.
- The UE calculates the difference between the DL RS measurements.
- If the difference is equal to or greater than the constraint threshold, the UE switches to the fallback beam reporting mode.
Potential Applications
- This method can be applied in wireless communication systems, such as cellular networks.
- It can be used to improve the reliability and efficiency of communication between base stations and user equipment.
- The method can help optimize beamforming and signal transmission in wireless networks.
Problems Solved
- The method addresses the issue of maintaining a reliable connection between base stations and user equipment in a communication system.
- It solves the problem of identifying when the quality of the downlink reference signals is below a certain threshold.
- The method provides a solution for switching to a fallback beam reporting mode when the DL RS measurements indicate a significant difference.
Benefits
- The method improves the overall performance and stability of communication systems.
- It allows for better management of beamforming and signal transmission in wireless networks.
- By switching to a fallback beam reporting mode, the method ensures that communication can continue even in challenging conditions.
Original Abstract Submitted
According to an example aspect of the present disclosure, there is provided a method comprising receiving a message at a user equipment (UE) from a base station (BS) the message including a constraint threshold, receiving a message at the UE from the BS the message including a fallback beam reporting mode, performing by the UE downlink (DL) reference signal (RS) measurements, determining by the UE a difference between DL RS measurements, and in response to determining the difference between DL RS measurements is not less than the constraint threshold switch to the fallback beam reporting mode.
