this application discloses a clock status synchronization method and a communication apparatus. in the method, a first access network device determines a clock status of the first access network device, and sends a clock status message to a first network device or a target terminal. the first network device and/or the target terminal sends a time provision request to a second network device based on the clock status message, to request to obtain an access network device for providing a time provision service for the first network device and/or the target terminal. the second network device determines the access network device for providing the time provision service for the first network device and/or the target terminal, and sends time provision indication information to the determined access network device, to indicate the access network device to provide the time provision service for the first network device and/or the target terminal.
