a system (″) for converting the encoding of qubits encoded as a discrete variable into qubits encoded as a continuous variable includes a first and a second compressed blank state source () configured to generate a respectively single-mode and dual-mode compressed blank state. a first and a second beam splitter () are arranged to receive respectively photons from the first and second sources. a third and a fourth beam splitter () are configured to mix the photon states respectively of the conditioning paths of the first and second sources, and of the qubit encoded as a discrete variable and of the signal path of the second source. a first and a second detector () are arranged at the output respectively of the third and of the fourth beam splitter, the second detector being a photon counter.

a system (″) for converting the encoding of qubits encoded as a discrete variable into qubits encoded as a continuous variable includes a first and a second compressed blank state source () configured to generate a respectively single-mode and dual-mode compressed blank state. a first and a second beam splitter () are arranged to receive respectively photons from the first and second sources. a third and a fourth beam splitter () are configured to mix the photon states respectively of the conditioning paths of the first and second sources, and of the qubit encoded as a discrete variable and of the signal path of the second source. a first and a second detector () are arranged at the output respectively of the third and of the fourth beam splitter, the second detector being a photon counter.
