methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. the techniques described herein relate to beamforming configurations of synchronization signal blocks to reduce power consumption at a user equipment (ue) and a network entity. the ue monitors for a first set of beamformed synchronization signals including a first subset of synchronization information. the ue transmits one or more beamformed wake-up signals (wuss) based on the monitoring for the first set of beamformed synchronization signals. the ue monitors, in response to transmitting the one or more beamformed wake-up signals, for a second set of beamformed synchronization signals including a second subset of the synchronization information. each beamformed synchronization signal of the first set of beamformed synchronization signals corresponds to multiple beamformed synchronization signals of the second set of beamformed synchronization signals.
