IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC ASSAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18450180 titled 'IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC ASSAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

This patent application describes an apparatus for conducting immunochromatographic assays.

  • The apparatus includes a loading part where a cartridge containing a carrier with a spotting region and an assay region, along with a reagent, can be attached and detached.
  • There is a first detection unit that detects the color development state in the assay region.
  • A second detection unit is present to detect the generation of bubbles in the assay region caused by the reagent supply.
  • A processor is used to analyze the data from the detection units and determine if there is a change in the color development state.
  • The processor also determines if there is a change in the color development state when there are no bubbles present in the assay region.
  • This apparatus simplifies the process of conducting immunochromatographic assays by automating the detection and analysis of color development and bubble generation.

Original Abstract Submitted

An immunochromatographic assay apparatus includes a loading part in which a cartridge that includes a carrier having a spotting region and an assay region, and in which a reagent is supplied to the carrier, is attachably and detachably loaded, a first detection unit that detects a color development state in the assay region, a second detection unit that detects a generation state of bubbles generated in the assay region due to the supply of the reagent, and a processor configured to discriminate presence or absence of a change in the color development state based on the color development state detected by the first detection unit, and discriminate the presence or absence of the change in the color development state in a case where the bubbles are discriminated to be absent based on the generation state of the bubbles detected by the second detection unit.
