IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC ASSAY APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18448383 titled 'IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC ASSAY APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

The immunochromatographic assay apparatus is a device used for detecting the presence of a specific substance in a sample.

  • It consists of a cartridge that can be loaded and unloaded, which contains a carrier and a second reagent holding part.
  • The carrier has different regions, including a spotting region where the sample is applied, an assay region, and a color development region.
  • The color development region changes its color when it reacts with a first reagent.
  • The second reagent holding part holds a second reagent that will be developed in the assay region.
  • The apparatus includes a detection unit that detects the color development state in the color development region.
  • It also has a second reagent supply mechanism that starts the supply of the second reagent from the second reagent holding part to the carrier.
  • A processor is responsible for operating the second reagent supply mechanism based on the change in the color development state of the color development region.

Original Abstract Submitted

The immunochromatographic assay apparatus includes a loading part in which a cartridge including a carrier and a second reagent holding part is attachably and detachably loaded, in which the carrier has a spotting region on which a sample is spotted, an assay region, and a color development region in which a color development state changes by reaction with a first reagent, and in which the second reagent holding part holds a second reagent to be developed in the assay region, a detection unit that detects a color development state in the color development region, a second reagent supply mechanism for starting a supply of the second reagent from the second reagent holding part to the carrier, and a processor configured to operate the second reagent supply mechanism based on a change in the color development state of the color development region.
