MBS SERVICE CONFIGURATION METHOD AND TERMINAL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18355059 titled 'MBS SERVICE CONFIGURATION METHOD AND TERMINAL DEVICE

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for configuring a multicast broadcast service (MBS) and a terminal device. The method involves the terminal device receiving configuration information for the MBS service, which is transmitted through multicasting. The configuration information determines whether the terminal device can receive the MBS service when it is in a state of radio resource control (RRC)_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE. It also determines whether the terminal device needs to provide feedback for the MBS service, which can include hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) feedback, radio link control (RLC) feedback, and packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) feedback.

  • The method is used to configure a multicast broadcast service (MBS) and a terminal device.
  • The terminal device receives configuration information for the MBS service.
  • The MBS service is transmitted through multicasting.
  • The configuration information determines if the terminal device can receive the MBS service in RRC_IDLE or RRC_INACTIVE states.
  • The configuration information also determines if the terminal device needs to provide feedback for the MBS service.
  • The feedback can include HARD feedback, RLC feedback, and PDCP feedback.

Original Abstract Submitted

A configuration method for a multicast broadcast service (MBS) service and a terminal device are disclosed. The method includes receiving, by a terminal device, configuration information of the MBS service, the MBS service being transmitted in a multicasting. the configuration information of the MBS service is configured to determine at least one of: whether the terminal device is capable of receiving the MBS service when the terminal device is in a state of radio resource control (RRC)_IDLE and/or in a state of RRC_INACTIVE; whether the terminal device needs to perform a feedback for the MBS service, wherein the feedback comprises at least one of: a hybrid automatic repeat request (HARD) feedback, a radio link control (RLC) feedback, and a packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) feedback.
