NOTIFICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CHANNEL QUALITY INDICATOR AND MODULATION AND CODING SCHEME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18354457 titled 'NOTIFICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CHANNEL QUALITY INDICATOR AND MODULATION AND CODING SCHEME

Simplified Explanation

- The patent application describes a notification method for a Channel Quality Indicator (CQI) and a Modulation and Coding Scheme (MCS). - The method involves a terminal learning a first CQI index from a CQI table and sending it to a base station. - The base station receives the first CQI index and determines a first MCS index based on the CQI table, an MCS table, and the received CQI index. - The determined first MCS index is then sent back to the terminal. - The terminal receives the first MCS index and determines the modulation order and code block size based on an MCS table and the received MCS index. - The first CQI table includes entries with modulation schemes higher than 64QAM.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present invention discloses a notification method for a CQI and a modulation and coding scheme. The method includes: learning, by a terminal, a first CQI index according to a first CQI table; sending the first CQI index to a base station; receiving, by the base station, the first CQI index sent by the terminal UE; determining a first MCS index according to the first CQI table, a first MCS table, and the received first CQI index; sending the determined first MCS index to the UE; receiving, by the terminal, the first MCS index sent by the base station; and determining a modulation order and a code block size according to the first MCS table and the received first MCS index; where the first CQI table includes entries in which modulation schemes are higher than 64QAM.
