COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18341308 Titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS'

Simplified Explanation

This application is designed to reduce the energy consumption of a user equipment (UE) device in wireless communication. It achieves this by providing a method and apparatus for communication that allows the UE device to receive reference signal configuration information and information about a specific area from an access network device. The UE device can then send a reference signal in that area based on the received configuration information. This eliminates the need for the UE device to access the network and reconfigure the reference signal every time it moves to a new cell, resulting in reduced energy consumption.

Original Abstract Submitted

This application provides a communication method and apparatus, and relates to the field of wireless communication technologies, to reduce energy consumption of UE. In the method, a terminal device may receive, from an access network device, reference signal configuration information and information about an area that are configured for the terminal device. The terminal device may send a reference signal in the area based on the reference signal configuration information. Based on the foregoing solution, the terminal device may send the reference signal in the area based on the reference signal configuration information, so that the terminal device does not need to access a network to reconfigure the reference signal each time the terminal device moves to a new cell, thereby reducing energy consumption of the terminal device.
