This application provides an intelligent component update method and a communication apparatus. A transmitting end sends indication information about one or more intelligent components to a receiving end. The indication information indicates a to-be-updated intelligent component of the transmitting end and/or a to-be-updated intelligent component of the receiving end. The to-be-updated intelligent component of the transmitting end belongs to a first intelligent module, and the to-be-updated intelligent component of the receiving end belongs to a second intelligent module. Based on the indication information, a to-be-updated indication can be performed for one or more intelligent components in an intelligent module, so that update efficiency and reliability of the intelligent module can be improved without affecting learning performance of the intelligent module, and update costs and system resource waste can be reduced.
