POWER TOOL GUIDE AND POWER TOOL GUIDE ASSEMBLY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18323221 titled 'POWER TOOL GUIDE AND POWER TOOL GUIDE ASSEMBLY

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a power tool guide assembly that helps to guide a power tool during use.

  • The power tool guide has a long body with one side designed to engage with a workpiece and the other side designed to engage with a power tool.
  • The power tool side of the guide has at least one elongate rail that fits into a reciprocal channel in the power tool. This rail helps to limit the lateral movement of the power tool in a direction perpendicular to the guide's length.
  • The guide also has a connecting rod channel, which allows for the mounting of at least one connecting rod.
  • The connecting rod has alignment indications that show the position of the rod in relation to the guide when it is mounted in the connecting rod channel.

Original Abstract Submitted

A power tool guide assembly includes a power tool guide. The power tool guide has an elongate body having a workpiece side configured to engage a workpiece and a power tool side configured to engage a power tool. At least one elongate rail is mounted on the power tool side. The at least one elongate rail is configured to engage a reciprocal channel in the power tool and limit lateral movement of the power tool in a direction perpendicular to a longitudinal axis of the elongate body wherein the elongate body comprises a connecting rod channel. At least one connecting rod is mountable within the connecting rod channel of the power tool guide. Wherein the at least one connecting rod comprises at least one alignment indication configured to indicate a position of the at least one connecting rod with respect to the power tool guide when mounted within the connecting rod channel.
