Liquid Ejecting Apparatus And Liquid Discharging Method - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18322666 titled 'Liquid Ejecting Apparatus And Liquid Discharging Method

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a liquid ejecting apparatus that includes nozzles, individual flow paths, a liquid storage portion, a supply flow path, a recovery flow path, a bypass flow path, and an on-off valve.

  • The apparatus is designed to eject liquid from the nozzles.
  • Each nozzle has its own flow path for the liquid.
  • The liquid is stored in a liquid storage portion.
  • The supply flow path supplies the liquid from the storage portion to the individual flow paths.
  • The recovery flow path recovers the liquid from the individual flow paths back to the storage portion.
  • The bypass flow path connects the supply and recovery flow paths.
  • The on-off valve is used to close and open the recovery flow path.
  • The on-off valve is located between the bypass flow path and the liquid storage portion in the recovery flow path.
  • The apparatus can pressurize the liquid in the supply flow path to discharge it from the nozzles.
  • This pressurization discharge operation is performed when the recovery flow path is closed by the on-off valve.

Original Abstract Submitted

A liquid ejecting apparatus includes: nozzles; individual flow paths communicating with each of the nozzles; a liquid storage portion storing liquid; a supply flow path for supplying the liquid from the liquid storage portion to the individual flow paths; a recovery flow path for recovering the liquid from the individual flow paths to the liquid storage portion; a bypass flow path that couples the supply flow path and the recovery flow path; and an on-off valve configured to close and open the recovery flow path, in which the on-off valve is disposed between the bypass flow path and the liquid storage portion in the recovery flow path, and a pressurization discharge operation of discharging the liquid from each of the nozzles by pressurizing the liquid in the supply flow path in a state in which the recovery flow path is closed by the on-off valve is executed.
