MOBILITY ROBUSTNESS USING JOINT PHASE-TIME ARRAYS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18306066 titled 'MOBILITY ROBUSTNESS USING JOINT PHASE-TIME ARRAYS
Simplified Explanation
The patent application describes methods and apparatuses for improving the robustness of mobility in wireless communication systems using joint phase-time arrays (JTPAs).
- The method involves determining a subset of beams for transmitting physical downlink shared control channels (PDSCHs) based on a wide-beam alignment procedure.
- A physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is transmitted to indicate the subset of beams selected.
- The PDSCHs are then transmitted on the subset of beams using JPTA beamforming.
- The same data is included in each of the PDSCHs, ensuring consistency in the transmitted information.
Key Points:
- The patent application focuses on enhancing mobility robustness in wireless communication systems.
- It introduces the use of joint phase-time arrays (JTPAs) for beamforming.
- A wide-beam alignment procedure is employed to determine the optimal subset of beams for transmission.
- The physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) is used to indicate the selected beams.
- The same data is transmitted on each of the selected beams to maintain consistency.
Original Abstract Submitted
Methods and apparatuses for mobility robustness with joint phase-time arrays (JTPAs). A method for operating a base station (BS), includes determining, based on a wide-beam (WB) alignment procedure, a subset of beams for transmission of physical downlink shared control channels (PDSCHs). The method further includes transmitting a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) indicating the subset of beams and transmitting the PDSCHs on the subset of beams, respectively, using a JPTA beamforming. The same data is included in each of the PDSCHs.
