The driving data of a motor vehicle at the junction is utilized to determine a possible driving trajectory of vehicles at the junction and arrangement information reflecting an arrangement of the traffic light system relative to the possible driving trajectory. The bypass lane of the junction is detected based on the arrangement information, the automated longitudinal guidance functions of the motor vehicle are adjusted based on the bypass lane detection.
