MOTOR DRIVE DEVICE AND MOTOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18249987 titled 'MOTOR DRIVE DEVICE AND MOTOR

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a motor driver system that controls the rotation speed of a motor based on a target rotation speed input.

  • The motor driver includes an operation clock generator that provides a clock signal for timing.
  • A PWM signal detector detects a PWM signal, which represents the target rotation speed, in the first cycle based on the clock signal.
  • A target rotation speed converter converts the duty ratio of the detected PWM signal into the target rotation speed.
  • A rotation speed controller drives the motor to match the target rotation speed.
  • A trigger value calculator calculates a second cycle based on the difference between the cycle of the PWM signal and the first cycle.
  • A timer generates a trigger signal in the calculated second cycle.
  • The rotation speed controller calculates the actual rotation speed of the motor based on the second cycle of the trigger signal generated by the timer.

Original Abstract Submitted

A motor driver includes an operation clock generator, a PWM signal detector that detects a PWM signal indicating a target rotation speed input from an outside in a first cycle based on a clock from the operation clock generator, a target rotation speed converter that converts a duty ratio of the detected PWM signal into the target rotation speed, a rotation speed controller that drives the motor so that an actual rotation speed of the motor matches the target rotation speed, a trigger value calculator that calculates a second cycle based on a difference between a cycle of the PWM signal and the first cycle, and a timer that generates a trigger signal in the calculated second cycle. The rotation speed controller calculates the actual rotation speed depending on the second cycle of the trigger signal generated by the timer.
