SOUNDING REFERENCE SIGNAL DELAY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18245693 titled 'SOUNDING REFERENCE SIGNAL DELAY

Simplified Explanation

- This patent application is about delaying the transmission of a sounding reference signal (SRS) in a wireless communication system. - A user equipment (UE) may transmit an SRS a certain number of slots after receiving downlink control information (DCI) that triggers the transmission of the SRS. - The base station can configure the UE with a set of delay parameters that are associated with different bit values. - The DCI that triggers the SRS transmission includes a bit field that indicates one of the delay parameters. - The base station can set a bit in the DCI bit field to indicate which delay parameter the UE should use for the SRS transmission. - When the UE receives the DCI, it maps the value of the DCI bit field to the set of delay parameters to determine the appropriate delay parameter for the SRS transmission.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects relate to delaying transmission of a sounding reference signal (SRS). A user equipment (UE) may transmit an SRS a certain number of slots after downlink control information (DCI) that triggers the transmission of the SRS. A base station may configure the UE with a set of delay parameters that are mapped to different bit values. The DCI that triggers the transmission of an SRS may include a bit field for indicating one of the delay parameters. A base station may set a bit in the bit field of the DCI to indicate that the UE is to use the corresponding delay parameter for the transmission of the SRS. A UE that receives the DCI may map the value of the DCI bit field to the set of delay parameters to determine the delay parameter to use for the SRS transmission.
