METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MIMO TRANSMISSION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18234150 titled 'METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR MIMO TRANSMISSION

Simplified Explanation

- The patent application describes methods for multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) transmission. - One method involves sensing radio frequency (RF) energy on a channel using multiple antenna chains in different time durations. - If the channel is sensed as busy in the first time duration, it indicates that the channel is occupied. - If the channel is sensed as not busy in the second time duration, it indicates that the channel is available for transmission. - Another method involves sending the energy level sensed during the second time duration, along with a frame that includes timing information for MIMO transmission. - The MIMO transmission is then sent using the indicated timing information and the multiple antenna chains.

Original Abstract Submitted

Methods for multiple input-multiple output (MIMO) transmission are provided herein. A method may include sensing, using at least one of a plurality of antenna chains, radio frequency (RF) energy on a channel in a first time duration and may indicate the channel is busy. RF energy may be sensed on the channel using the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains in a second time duration and may indicate the channel is not busy. A method may include sending energy level sensed during the second time duration, a frame using the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains. The frame may indicate timing information associated with a MIMO transmission. The MIMO transmission may be sent using the indicated timing information and the at least one of the plurality of antenna chains.
