The screen-off display method includes: receiving a first input, where the first input is an input that triggers an electronic device to be in a screen-off state; and in response to the first input, turning off a screen of the electronic device and displaying a first screen-off display content on the turned-off screen, where the first screen-off display content is a content in a target application, the target application is a source application of a screen-off display content preset by a user in the electronic device, and the content in the target application is updated in real time after the screen of the electronic device is turned off.
