P2P TRANSMISSION METHOD IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18217267 titled 'P2P TRANSMISSION METHOD IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a wireless local area network (LAN) system where a transmitting station (STA) can send a peer-to-peer (P2P) transmission request to an access point (AP). The STA receives a P2P transmission response from the AP and a trigger frame containing information about the type of transmission. The STA then sends data to a receiving STA, which can be a non-AP STA. The STA also sends a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame and a null data packet (NDP) frame to the receiving STA. The STA receives a feedback frame from the receiving STA, which includes information about the channel between them.

  • The patent application describes a wireless LAN system with peer-to-peer transmission capabilities.
  • The transmitting station (STA) can send a P2P transmission request to an access point (AP).
  • The STA receives a response from the AP and a trigger frame with transmission information.
  • The STA can send data to a receiving STA, which can be a non-AP STA.
  • The STA also sends a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame and a null data packet (NDP) frame to the receiving STA.
  • The STA receives a feedback frame from the receiving STA, which includes channel state information.

Original Abstract Submitted

In a wireless local area network (LAN) system, a transmitting station (STA) may transmit a peer-to-peer (P2P) transmission request frame to an access point (AP). The transmitting STA may receive a P2P transmission response frame from the AP. The transmitting STA may receive a trigger frame from the AP. The trigger frame may include information related to whether same is for an uplink, P2P transmission or both an uplink and P2P transmission. The transmitting STA may transmit data to a receiving STA. The transmitting STA and the receiving STA may be non-AP STAs. The transmitting STA may transmit a null data packet announcement (NDPA) frame and a null data packet (NDP) frame to the receiving STA. The transmitting STA may receive, from the receiving STA, a feedback frame including state information for the channel between the transmitting STA and the receiving STA.
