DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18106950 Titled 'DISPLAY DEVICE'

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a display device that consists of several layers. The base layer serves as the foundation. On top of it, there is a display element layer which includes a light emitting element, a light detection element, and a photovoltaic element. These three elements are placed next to each other. A light shielding layer is then added on top of the display element layer, which has multiple openings. Finally, a color filter layer covers the openings in the light shielding layer.

The light detection element and the photovoltaic element are positioned in the same layer. The light detection element is responsible for detecting external input by analyzing incoming light from the outside. On the other hand, the photovoltaic element is designed to convert the incident light into electrical energy.

Original Abstract Submitted

A display device includes: a base layer; a display element layer on the base layer, and including a light emitting element, a light detection element, and a photovoltaic element adjacent to one another; a light shielding layer on the display element layer, and having a plurality of opening parts; and a color filter layer on the display element layer, and covering the plurality of opening parts. The light detection element and the photovoltaic element are located at the same layer as each other, the light detection element is to detect an external input based on incident light from the outside, and the photovoltaic element is to generate electrical energy based on the incident light.
