TRIGGERING A POSITIONING-RELATED ACTION BASED ON A CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION REQUEST FIELD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18042554 Titled 'TRIGGERING A POSITIONING-RELATED ACTION BASED ON A CHANNEL STATE INFORMATION REQUEST FIELD'

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a system where a component called LMF can trigger actions related to positioning on a user equipment (UE). The LMF component can request a base station (BS) that serves the UE to trigger these actions. The BS can send a communication with a field that requests Channel State Information (CSI) reporting or triggers positioning-related actions. This field can also include information related to positioning, such as PRS configuration, positioning measurement requests, or location reporting requests. The UE can then perform the positioning-related actions based on this information.

Original Abstract Submitted

In an aspect, an LMF component may determine to trigger positioning-related action(s) at a UE. The LMF component may request that a serving BS of the UE trigger the positioning-related action(s). The serving BS may transmit a DCI communication with a CSI request field (e.g., that triggers at least CSI reporting, or triggers positioning-related action(s) only). The CSI request field may further be associated with positioning-related information including at least one PRS configuration, at least one positioning measurement request, at least one location reporting request, or a combination thereof. The UE may perform the positioning-related action(s) based on the positioning-related information.
