METHODS, APPARATUSES, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT AND SYSTEM FOR HANDLING RADIO LINK FAILURE IN RELAYED RADIO COMMUNICATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18030978 titled 'METHODS, APPARATUSES, COMPUTER PROGRAM PRODUCT AND SYSTEM FOR HANDLING RADIO LINK FAILURE IN RELAYED RADIO COMMUNICATIONS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a technique for handling a radio link failure (RLF) in a relayed radio communication system. This system involves a relay radio device (RL) that relays communication between a remote radio device (RM) and a radio access network (RAN) or another remote radio device (RM).

  • The technique identifies when a radio link failure occurs in the relayed radio communication.
  • In response to the identified failure, the technique performs or initiates one of the following actions:
 - Release: Terminates the relayed radio communication.
 - Reconfiguration: Adjusts the relayed radio communication to overcome the failure.
 - Reestablishment: Restores the relayed radio communication after the failure.
  • The purpose of this technique is to effectively handle radio link failures in relayed radio communication systems, ensuring uninterrupted and reliable communication.
  • This innovation can be applied in various scenarios where relayed radio communication is used, such as in cellular networks or wireless communication systems.
  • By promptly responding to radio link failures, this technique improves the overall performance and reliability of relayed radio communication systems.

Original Abstract Submitted

A technique for handling a radio link failure, RLF, in a relayed radio communication relayed through a relay radio device (-RL) between a remote radio device (-RM) and a radio access network, RAN (-NN), or a further remote radio device (-RM) is described. An RLF in the relayed radio communication is determined. Responsive to the determined RLF, at least one of a release, a reconfiguration, and a reestablishment of the relayed radio communication is performed or initiated.
