COMMUNICATION METHOD BY MEANS OF MULTICAST - A simplified explanation of the abstract
- This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18008529 Titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD BY MEANS OF MULTICAST'
Simplified Explanation
The present specification describes a method for a Session Management Function (SMF) to provide a multicast service. The SMF receives a message from a relay user equipment (UE), which includes a join request from a remote UE to join a multicast group, as well as information about the remote UE. If the relay UE also wants to join the multicast group, its join request is included in the message. The SMF checks if this join request is the first one for the multicast group from either the relay UE or any other remote UEs connected to the relay UE. If it is the first join request, the SMF sends a message to a base station.
Original Abstract Submitted
One disclosure of the present specification provides a method by which a Session Management Function (SMF) provides a multicast service. The SMF performs the steps of: receiving a first message from a relay user equipment (UE), wherein on the basis of the relay UE receiving a join request of a first remote UE for a multicast group from the first remote UE, the first message includes (i) the join request of the first remote UE and (ii) information about the first remote UE, and on the basis of the relay UE wanting to join the multicast group by itself, the first message includes a join request of the relay UE; checking whether the join request included in the first message is a first join request for the multicast group from among the relay UE and one or more remote UEs receiving a network connection service from the relay UE; and on the basis of the join request included in the first message being the first join request for the multicast group from among the relay UE and the one or more remote UEs receiving a network connection service from the relay UE, transmitting a second message to a base station.
