WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTER AND WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION METHOD BY WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 18005794 Titled 'WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTER AND WIRELESS POWER TRANSMISSION METHOD BY WIRELESS POWER TRANSMITTER'

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a wireless power transmitter that includes a power converter and a controller. The power converter has a primary coil that transfers power wirelessly to a secondary coil in a wireless power receiver. The controller communicates with the wireless power receiver and controls the power transmission. It receives information about the secondary coil and the position of the wireless power receiver. Based on this information, the controller can determine if there is a foreign material between the transmitter and receiver or if there is a misalignment between the coils.

Original Abstract Submitted

A wireless power transmitter according to an embodiment of the present specification comprises: a power converter comprising a primary coil magnetically coupled to a secondary coil of a wireless power receiver to transmit wireless power; and a controller for communicating with the wireless power receiver and controlling the wireless power transmission, wherein the controller receives first information relating to the secondary coil from the wireless power receiver, receives second information relating to the position information of the wireless power receiver from the wireless power receiver, and distinguishes a state in which a foreign material is present between the wireless power receiver and the wireless power transmitter, and a misalignment state of the primary coil and secondary coil, on the basis of the first information and second information.
