TIMER-BASED SWITCHING FOR MULTIPLE ACTIVE BANDWIDTH PARTS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for patent application number 18000811 Titled 'TIMER-BASED SWITCHING FOR MULTIPLE ACTIVE BANDWIDTH PARTS'

Simplified Explanation

This abstract describes a disclosure that presents methods, devices, and systems for enabling full-duplex communications in wireless networks. Specifically, it focuses on the use of multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs) that can be active simultaneously for communication between a user equipment (UE) and a base station. These BWPs can be used for either downlink (DL) or uplink (UL) communications.

In this approach, a first active BWP is utilized for half-duplex (HD) communications in a slot, while a second active BWP is used for full-duplex (FD) communications in an adjacent slot. Additionally, the UE has the capability to change the status of one or more active BWPs after a certain period of time. This can involve deactivating an active BWP, switching it to a default BWP, or modifying the assigned role of the active BWP.

Original Abstract Submitted

This disclosure provides methods, devices, and systems for full-duplex communications in wireless networks. Some implementations more specifically relate to multiple bandwidth parts (BWPs), active concurrently, for communications in a given direction (such as a downlink (DL) direction or an uplink (UL) direction) between a user equipment (UE) and a base station. For example, a first active BWP may be used for DL or UL communications in a half-duplex (HD) slot and a second active BWP may be used for DL or UL communications in an adjacent full-duplex (FD) slot. In some implementations, the UE may further change a status of one or more active BWPs after a given amount of time has elapsed. For example, the UE may change the states of an active BWP by deactivating the active BWP, switching the active BWP to a default BWP, or changing a role assigned to the active BWP.
