METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING BEAM IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17922939 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING BEAM IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation

- The patent application describes a method for operating a reception terminal in a wireless communication system. - The reception terminal receives sidelink synchronization signals/broadcast blocks (S-SSB) from a transmission terminal. - The reception terminal selects the best beam based on the received S-SSB. - The reception terminal transmits a best beam indication signal to the transmission terminal, indicating the selected best beam. - The reception terminal establishes a link connection with the transmission terminal based on the best beam. - Each S-SSB is associated with a beam index based on the beam direction. - Each beam index is associated with a sequence offset. - The best beam indication signal is generated based on the sequence offset corresponding to the best beam.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method of operating a reception terminal based on a beam in a wireless communication system may be provided. The method may comprise the reception terminal receiving at least one sidelink synchronization signal/broadcast block (S-SSB) from a transmission terminal, selecting a best beam based on the at least one S-SSB, transmitting a best beam indication signal indicating the selected best beam to the transmission terminal, and performing a link connection with the transmission terminal based on the best beam. Each of the at least one S-SSB may be associated with each beam index based on a beam direction, each beam index may be associated with each sequence offset, and the best beam indication signal may be generated based on a sequence offset corresponding to the best beam.
