Method for Treating a Biological Sample, and Device for Isolating Cells from a Transport Medium - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17908069 titled 'Method for Treating a Biological Sample, and Device for Isolating Cells from a Transport Medium

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for treating a biological sample in a transport medium.

  • The method involves adding a complexing agent to the transport medium, which forms complexes with alkaline-earth metal ions.
  • A device is used in the method, which includes a porous volume filter and a membrane filter.
  • The membrane filter has a pore size ranging from 0.2 μm to 2.0 μm.
  • The purpose of the method is to effectively treat the biological sample in the transport medium.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a method for treating a biological sample contained in a transport medium. At least one complexing agent is added to the transport medium, which complexing agent forms complexes with alkaline-earth metal ions. In the method, a device can be used which comprises, in succession, a porous volume filter and a membrane filter having a pore size in the range of 0.2 μm to 2.0 μm.
