MICROSERVICES ANOMALY DETECTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17828357 titled 'MICROSERVICES ANOMALY DETECTION

Simplified Explanation

This patent application describes a method for detecting anomalies in microservice operations using machine learning algorithms. Here are the key points:

  • The method involves collecting parameters related to microservice operations processed by a first instance of a microservice.
  • These parameters are then analyzed using one or more machine learning algorithms.
  • Based on the analysis, a prediction is made to determine if the microservice operation is anomalous or not.
  • If an anomaly is detected, the first instance of the microservice is designated as being in an anomalous state.
  • In response to this designation, one or more microservice requests are routed to a second instance of the microservice.
  • The goal of this method is to improve the reliability and performance of microservices by identifying and handling anomalous operations effectively.

Original Abstract Submitted

A method comprises collecting parameters corresponding to at least one microservice operation processed by a first instance of a microservice, and analyzing the parameters using one or more machine learning algorithms. Based at least in part on the analyzing, a prediction is made whether the at least one microservice operation is anomalous. In the method, the first instance of the microservice is designated as being in an anomalous state responsive to predicting that the at least one microservice operation is anomalous. One or more microservice requests for the microservice are routed to a second instance of the microservice responsive to the anomalous state designation.
