The memory is to store a firmware that sets a configuration of the plurality of slots, wherein the re-timer is to control the operation of the plurality of slots in accordance with the configuration set by the firmware. The controller is to control operation of the expansion interface. The configuration change module is to change the configuration of the plurality of slots when a change in a number of connected add-in cards is detected.
