METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVEMENTS OF AUTONOMOUS GAPS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17786319 titled 'METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR IMPROVEMENTS OF AUTONOMOUS GAPS

Simplified Explanation

The patent application is about a method for configuring a User Equipment (UE) in a pre-5G or 5G communication system. The method involves the UE reporting information obtained from a neighboring cell to the telecommunication network. The network then determines whether the UE can use an Autonomous Gap (AG) for communication with one or more serving cells, based on this information.

  • The patent application is for a method in a pre-5G or 5G communication system.
  • The method involves configuring a User Equipment (UE) to report information obtained from a neighboring cell.
  • The telecommunication network uses this information to determine if the UE can use an Autonomous Gap (AG) for communication with serving cells.
  • The method aims to support higher data rates beyond the 4G LTE communication system.
  • The innovation allows for more efficient utilization of resources in the communication system.

Original Abstract Submitted

The present disclosure relates to a pre-5-Generation (5G) or 5G communication system to be provided for supporting higher data rates Beyond 4-Generation (4G) communication system such as Long Term Evolution (LTE). Disclosed is a method of a telecommunication network configuring a User Equipment, UE, to report information measured or obtained from a neighbouring cell, whereby the network indicates to the UE whether the UE is allowed to utilise an Autonomous Gap, AG, for its communication with one or more serving cells, while obtaining the information from the neighbouring cell.
