NETWORK ENERGY SAVING WITH DISCOVERY SIGNALS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

  • This abstract for appeared for US patent application number 17733291 Titled 'NETWORK ENERGY SAVING WITH DISCOVERY SIGNALS'

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for transmitting signals to enable the discovery of a cell. These signals, called synchronization signal blocks (SSBs), carry the identification of the cell. They can be transmitted either when requested or at a higher frequency than the discovery signals. Both the discovery signals and SSBs are transmitted within the same bandwidth and on overlapping frequency resources.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects of the present disclosure provide mechanisms for transmitting discovery signals to enable discovery of a cell. Synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) carrying the cell identifier of the cell may then be transmitted either on-demand or with a higher periodicity than discovery signals. The discovery signals and SSBs may be transmitted within a same bandwidth part and on at least overlapping sets of frequency resources.
