PHYSICAL DOWNLINK CONTROL CHANNEL TRANSMISSION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17442814 titled 'PHYSICAL DOWNLINK CONTROL CHANNEL TRANSMISSION IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a method for configuring a search space in a network device, such as a user equipment or a next generation NodeB.

  • The search space is configured with various parameters, including a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state identifier, a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) repetition field, and a number of UE-specific search space (USS) repetitions for the PDCCH.
  • The user equipment can perform beam switching in a search space set group (SSSG) based on the TCI states and other parameters like search space set (SSS) index, SSSG index, or a beam switching request (BSR) field value.
  • The physical downlink control channel associated with the search space is transmitted to facilitate beam switching according to the configured search space information element.

Original Abstract Submitted

A user equipment (UE), or other network device (e.g., next generation NodeB (gNB)) component can operate to process or configure a search space information element (IE) that is configured with at least one of: a transmission configuration indicator (TCI) state identifier (ID) of a TCI, or a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) repetition field indicating a number of PDCCH repetitions, or a number of UE-specific search space (USS) repetitions for the PDCCH. A UE can perform search space set group (SSSG) beam switching based on one or more TCI states and at least one of: a search space set (SSS) index, an SSSG index, or a beam switching request (BSR) field value. A physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) associated with the search space can be transmitted for beam switching according to a search space information element.
