CHANNEL OCCUPANCY RATE DETERMINATION IN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 17441241 titled 'CHANNEL OCCUPANCY RATE DETERMINATION IN UNLICENSED SPECTRUM
Simplified Explanation
- This patent application is about techniques for determining the channel occupancy rate of a channel between a user equipment (UE) and a base station in an unlicensed spectrum. - The UE receives a measurement configuration from the base station, which instructs the UE to perform measurements on the channel. - The measurements can be either omni measurements or directional measurements, depending on the antenna element used by the UE. - Based on the performed measurements, the UE determines the channel occupancy rate of the channel. - The UE then transmits a report to the base station, indicating the channel occupancy rate.
Original Abstract Submitted
Some aspects of this disclosure relate to apparatuses and methods for implementing techniques for channel occupancy rate determination of a channel between a user equipment (UE) and a base station in an unlicensed spectrum. A UE can perform measurements based on a measurement configuration from the base station, and further determine a channel occupancy rate of the channel based on the performed measurements. The measurement configuration indicates to the UE to perform an omni measurement or a directional measurement by using an antenna element of the UE. The UE can further transmit a report to the base station to indicate the channel occupancy rate.
